The American Lung Association was founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis. Today, through supportive educational programs, advocacy and research, we impact those living with all types of lung diseases, including asthma, COPD and lung cancer. Together -- our volunteers, donors and staff -- we have the power to change the way we live and breathe.
The American Lung Association of Florida provides critical programs and services designed to reach residents of all ages. From our Open Airways for Schools to our Freedom From Smoking ® program, the Lung Association provides an important service to the almost two million Floridians suffering from lung disease. During the past year, the American Lung Association of Florida held more than 2,000 programs on topics ranging from smoking cessation, asthma, COPD, women with lung disease, and other lung health related issues.
However, all of these programs could not be possible without community support of our fundraising efforts. Countless volunteers, local businesses and supporters participate in our events and promotions to help raise money for critical research and vital programs.
As part of our American Lung Association® community, you have the benefits of in-depth and timely information on lung issues including asthma, tobacco control, and environmental health. You can participate as an ALA volunteer, attend one of our special events, join one of our programs, and support our work through the Christmas Seal Campaign®, Vehicle Donation Program, and the Golf Privilege Card®.
Meet new people, enjoy yourself, and support our mission to prevent lung disease and promote lung health
